The Fall of Gaeta, 1806
This letter, from Admiral Sir William Sidney Smith to Sir John Stuart, written on board HMS Pompeii off the coast of Calabria, reports the French siege of the fortress of Gata and its subsequent capitulation.

Admiral Sir William Sidney Smith's letter to Sir John Stuart written on August 25, 1806. This was written while Sir Wm. Sidney Smith was serving in the Meditteranean. In the letter, Smith reports his exasperation with the admiralty to General Stuart and conveys his desire to go to Corsica and attack the west end of Sicily.
